Your Free Breathing Exercise
This simple breathing exercise signals the body out of a stress response and into a state of rest, digestion, and conception- engaging the parasympathetic nervous system.
4-4-8 breathing: Inhale 4 counts. Hold 4 counts. Exhale 8 counts. Take some time to let go of stress. Then grab your journal and reflect over this week's prompt: Can you identify and name (without judgment) the top 3 stressors in your daily life? Are there any personal tools you have/can create to calm the mind and body when these stressors arise? (some examples: listening to a playlist of your favorite songs, a breathing exercise, going for a walk, taking a long shower…)
