How to Maximize BC’s Public IVF Funding

This updated blog post is your comprehensive resource on how to access BC’s publicly funded IVF program—including what’s covered, who qualifies, and how to apply. But more importantly, it also shares evidence-informed strategies to help you increase your IVF success, so you don’t just get a free IVF cycle—you get closer to your goal: a healthy pregnancy and take-home baby.

Getting a funded IVF cycle with no embryo to transfer, a failed implantation, or a miscarriage is not what anyone wants. That’s why we’ve included recommendations to optimize your fertility naturally before and during IVF, including acupuncture, LLLT (fertility laser therapy), and nutrient IV drips with glutathione to help improve your chances of success.

The Province of British Columbia has launched a publicly funded in vitro fertilization (IVF) program, providing funding for eligible B.C. residents who require IVF on their active path to parenthood.

BC residents may receive up to $19,000 toward their IVF cycle at participating B.C. fertility clinics who are:

  • Enrolled in the Medical Services Plan (MSP)

  • Meet all other eligibility criteria (see details below including what is covered at end of email)

  • And complete the income verification process

Funding amounts are determined by your combined pre-tax income (line 15000) based on the current tax year’s Notice of Assessment or Notice of Re-Assessment.

This blog is based on the government’s website  July 2, 2025 update, to reflect these most recent changes. You’ll find a breakdown of income thresholds and tips below on how to make the most of this opportunity—including natural strategies to increase your IVF success rate, so you can turn this funded IVF/FET cycle into a healthy pregnancy.

As of July 2, 2025, B.C. residents can receive up to $19,000 in funding toward a standard IVF cycle. Your funding amount is based on your combined pre-tax income:

  • $0–$100,000: $19,000

  • $100,001–$150,000: $14,250

  • $150,001–$200,000: $9,500

  • $200,001–$250,000: $4,750

  • Over $250,000: Not eligible

To qualify, you must:

  • Be 41 or younger at the time of embryo transfer (or have turned 42 between April 1 and July 2, 2025)

  • Be enrolled in BC’s Medical Services Plan (MSP)

  • Apply through one of the three participating IVF clinics in BC:
    • Olive Fertility Centre
    • PCRM
    • Grace Fertility

If the fully or partially funded cycle fails due to poor egg or sperm quality, poor uterine lining, embryo quality or implantation failure, it can be emotionally and financially draining.

That’s why preparing your body before IVF isn’t just helpful—it can make a meaningful difference in your outcome

At Acubalance Wellness Centre in Vancouver, we are trained & experienced in preconception care and working along your IVF cycle including transfer day acupuncture onsite at the Olive Fertility Clinic.  We support your IVF success using an evidence informed integrative approach:

  • Fertility acupuncture to regulate hormones, increase blood flow  and reduce stress

  • LLLT (low-level laser therapy for fertility) to enhance egg & sperm quality and uterine receptivity

  • IV nutrient and antioxidant drips (with glutathione) to support mitochondrial and cellular function

Low-level laser therapy (LLLT), also called photobiomodulation, uses red and infrared light to:

  • Stimulate mitochondria in your cells to produce more ATP (cellular energy)

  • Improve blood flow to your ovaries and uterus

  • Reduce oxidative stress on reproductive cells

  • Regulate inflammation and blood sugars

  • Improve your gut microbiome

  • Support egg and embryo quality and uterine lining thickness

  • Increase IVF and FET success and implantation

We time LLLT and fertility acupuncture to your IVF cycle, especially:

Your eggs, sperm, and uterine lining all rely on optimal cellular health. Nutrient IV therapy delivers key fertility-enhancing compounds directly into the bloodstream, bypassing digestion and reaching your cells quickly and efficiently.

To fully support your IVF success, we recommend starting integrative care at least 6 to 12 weeks before your IVF stimulation. The earlier we begin, the more time we have to positively influence egg & sperm quality, hormone regulation, and uterine lining development.

Acubalance Wellness Centre has been at the forefront of integrative fertility care in Canada for over two decades (since 2002). We are located in Vancouver and collaborate with Olive Fertility to support your entire reproductive journey.

Our services include:

  • Fertility acupuncture with experienced practitioners

  • LLLT (laser acupuncture)

  • Fertility-focused IV nutrient drips with glutathione

  • Chinese herbal medicine and functional testing when appropriate

  • Emotional and mindset support through clinical hypnosis, and tech toys to induce a state of calm and peace of mind

We’re here to help you feel empowered, informed, and supported through every step of your IVF process.

The BC government has taken a meaningful step in reducing the financial barrier to IVF for many. However, not all costs are covered and not everyone can receive the funding—and no funding program can guarantee a successful outcome. This is where your preparation and support matter. The choices you make, the care you receive, and how you prepare your body and mind can all play an important role in improving your chances of success.

Our goal at Acubalance is to help you turn this publicly funded IVF cycle into your best chance at a healthy pregnancy.
