A low carb diet increases the stress hormone cortisol—which causes your body to store fat. In addition, people on a low carb diet have higher levels of the inflammatory chemical C-reactive hormone—a substance that puts you at risk for a host of diseases, including heart disease, stroke and diabetes. The best diet for long-term weight loss and overall health is a low GI diet. Considerations when taking PGX
