Your Weight and Egg Quality

Women undergoing fertility treatment are always looking for ways to improve their chances of success. In many, women weight loss could be that last influential key to a healthy pregnancy.

Recent studies have shown how egg quality is lower in women with a high body mass index (BMI). These studies brought to light how women with a BMI above 35 had a greater chance of having poor egg structure (more than 1 spindle) as well as disorganized chromosomes. Either of these issues can create poor egg quality.

In women with a high BMI, just the act of losing weight will help them achieve a healthy pregnancy. It does take time so planning to get yourself healthy in preparation for an IVF is key. There are many healthy ways to lose weight. My favorite and most effective weight loss methods do not involve fasting or starving yourself. A healthy diet focusing on quality foods not quantity of food is most effective with my patients. Focusing primarily on food sensitivities you may have combined with eliminating blood sugar spiking foods is my goal. You can eat as much as you want, feel satisfied but you still lose weight.

Combining the above diet with Acupuncture and Chinese medicine is an amazing treatment for not only weight loss but also fertility. If you are struggling with your health and are interested to see if we can help you, please give us a call to set up a free 15-minute phone consultation.
