My baby is breech. Can acupuncture help?

I received this question from a Vancouver woman who wanted to know about turning a breech baby using acupuncture and moxibustion"

I am just over 30wks pregnant and, while I know it is still early, I'm nervous. Baby is frank breech with zero indications s/he has any interest in turning. In fact, movements of late have slowed considerably. Just wondering if you do the Chinese moxibustion for this and what the treatment plan looks like (one visit, many visits, etc.) as well as the associated cost.

Look forward to hearing from you.

My response:

Thank you for your email and your interest in Acubalance.

We absolutely offer moxibustion treatments for breech babies. We generally recommend that you come in around 32 or 33 weeks for this. The reason being is because before 32 weeks, the baby still has plenty of room to move around and the baby may turn on its own at this stage of your pregnancy. As we get closer to 33 weeks and beyond there is less of a chance baby will turn so we use moxibustion to help increase chances of the baby turning. Usually, only 1-2 treatments, approximately ten days apart from one another, are needed from us since we teach you and provide you with moxa and written instructions so you can self-moxa at home for 7-10 days. We also have a video to demonstrate how to do this.

For more information on the moxibustion treatments, please feel free to take a look at this link on our website. If you would like to make an appointment, please just let me know and I can assist you with the remainder of the booking process.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions or if I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

Have a great weekend!
