Infertility: A Sign of Possible Sub-Optimal Health

In Chinese medicine, we look at the body as a whole. If you are not healthy, the body shows signs and symptoms of sub-optimal health such as fatigue, headaches, insomnia, acne, constipation and possibly infertility!
By looking at the whole body, we are able to combine many of these symptoms and come to a diagnosis as to why the body is out of balance and not in peak health. With the use of specific acupuncture points, herbal formulas, and diet/lifestyle adjustments, we slowly bring the body back into balance. As this adjustment period is happening, patients will notice an overall feeling of greater health which positivity effects their fertility. Once the patients has achieved a greater level of health, we hope for a healthy pregnancy in the following months. Not only do we see greater pregnancy rates but also lower miscarriage rates.
I've been treating a patient who came in diagnosed with PCOS and not having regular cycles. She had a history of miscarriages and overall was not happy or healthy. She truly made a huge effort to make herself healthy. It was inspirational not only for me to watch the changes she made but so many others noticed the profound effect it had on her. I am happy to say she has never had such regular cycles in her entire life. We are hoping that she conceives naturally in the next 6-12 months.
