UBC researchers are investigating whether flame retardant chemicals (e.g. PBDEs) and stain and water repellents (e.g. PFCs) have an influence on thyroid hormone levels during pregnancy. We are currently recruiting 150 pregnant women (less than 15 weeks along) in the Vancouver area to participate in the study.
