Hi. I read forums all the time, and it seems most women (from the States anyways) get acupuncture right before their Embryo Transfer AND right after!? Does this make it more successful? I had my 1st IVF (which we failed) in April/May and I did do acpuncture during stims and right after my transfer, but not before. Can you tell me why some people do it before and after?
Thanks :)

The only reason it is done before is because this is how it was adminsitered for all the research for acupuncture on transfer day. This does not mean there are not better ways to use acupuncture to improve your IVF success. It just turned out to be the design of the study, unfortunately. I have read papers where it was done just before and also was effective. I am not aware of any research on acupuncture only after transfer.
Here are some other links that may be benefical about acupuncture/Chinese Medicine with IVF

So in your opinion, would it b e better to get acupuncture right before my transfer, instead of right after? Or would it be best to do both? <-- I'll do whatever it takes :) Last time I did it within 15 minutes after transfer and then again 3 or 4 days later.
Any advice you have, would be great!!
Thanks, in advance, for your time

If you had to choose either or, then before.
I would recommend the following based on current research when it comes to acupuncture on IVF transfer day.
If you have a stressful drive and acupuncture is not on site then just before. If on site then obviously before and after. We almost always do before and after at Genesis because we are on site there and only a 15 minute walk (5 min drive) if had to be dne at Acubalance. For the other clinics we also do before and after but it is currently done at Acubalance So if the drive is stressful or you live close the IVF clinic then just before is enough.
