Hi,
I saw previously a poster ask about DHEA. I have taken some DHEA, 25 mgs every other day, for 2 weeks. I already have signs of too many androgens. Chest/Chin hair, my scalp hair is falling out! Also, my period was early and very scant. Very strange as I am a clock with my cycles.
I know I have messed something up.
I read that querceting and cordyceps can help with side effects. As well as genistein. I am drinking soy like mad, it is helping my heart which seems really out of whack because of this.
Is there anything else I can do? I obviously have stopped supplementation. I am scared for my fertility, my hair and any other damage. Oh and candida is out of control too.
Thank you
Teraza

Hi Tereza,
I would not over do it on Soy either. We recommend a fertility diet which consist of a whole foods
mostly plant based diet. Most soy products are not real food unless
it is spouted or fermented (like sporuted soy, tempeh or miso) so I do not suggest over consuming soy milk.
Most of the signs will reverse once the DHEA is out of your system.
Chinese medicine does not believe in a one size fits all. I caution
any woman who is thinking of taking DHEA to first have her levels tested. If she does not have DHEA deficiency then it may not be the best approach to optimize your fertility.
Exercise and eat well and your body should return to normal in a short time. You may want to have your acupuncturist do some acupuncture and/or prescribe some herbs to help your body return to balance quicker.

Thank you for your reply.
It has been a month. I have gone for a lot of acupuncture and tried some herbs from my Chinese Doctor. My hair is still falling out. Is there anything else I can do?
Thank you
I did a radio interview with a colleague who has much more knowledge and experience with DHEA than I do. I hope to have it on line before the end of May 2009.

One small study found that 25 mg a day of DHEA may reduce symptoms of menopause. Levels of other hormones were affected, however, which may have adverse effects.
At the dosage of
25 mg, I find that it is much too potent for me and gives produces
insomnia and itching of the scalp and legs. To solve these problems, I
would open each capsule and use a little of the contents at a time.
