Top 5 most common health conditions we treat at Acubalance

  1. Unwanted weight gain
  2. Fatigue - as well as feeling wired and tired
  3. Feeling depressed/anxious
  4. Hormonal imbalances (fertility, menopaisal sympstoms, PMS, sleep, hormonal acne, and the list goes on)
  5. Digestive problems - constipation, diarrhea, bloating, excessive gas, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), heart burn

Hormonal imbalances come with a long list of symptoms and disease labels such as insomnia, infertility, miscarriages, migraines, menstrual spotting, PMS, menstrual cramps, irregular cycles, luteal phase defect, PCOS, hot flashes, night sweats, morning sickness, hair loss and acne.

The good news is that all those symptoms are coming from just a few underlying causes which make treating much simpler than you would imagine.

The reason so many people seek us out at Acubalance for treating what we call the ‘The Top 5 Common Conditions’ listed above is because they are typically misunderstood or misdiagnosed by conventional medicine practitioners since they attempt to address the symptoms instead of addressing the underlying root cause.

Rather than the traditional disease-centred focus approach, at Acubalance we address the underlying causes of disease using a patient-centred approach addressing the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. The traditional medical approach of treating the symptoms and not the underlying cause is like medical wack-a-mole. As one symptom disappears another appears or eventually reappears. The result is chronic poor health ... and hence The Top 5 Common Conditions.

Our approach at Acubalance is focusing on the optional functioning of the whole person (mind-body-spirit), from the big picture holistic level all the way to the finest detail on a cellular level. Considering you are made up of trillions of cells it is our goal to have every cell functioning optionally so that all your cells (tissues, organs, bone, blood) as a collective are in optimal health and as a result so is the totality of you.

We devise for you an individualized program based on functional medicine testing using an integrative approach comprised of Chinese medicine, acupuncture, nutritional therapy (Including IV Nutritional therapy), mind body stress reduction techniques, and naturopathic medicine to treat the underlying causes responsible for damaging your body systems leading to The Top 5 Common Conditions.

Emotional stress is one of the 3 main causes that damage your body systems that can lead to weight gain, fatigue, depression/anxiety, poor gut health and hormone imbalances. And the types of emotional stress that precipices the health issues are death of a loved one, relationship issues (bad divorce), financial issues, and overwork.

Let’s use Female hormonal imbalances as an example of how stress can lead to many of the gynecological issues like spotting, PMS, menopausal symptoms and infertility.

The stress response triggers the release of adrenal hormones such as cortisol and DHEA. Cortisol, the main adrenal hormone, is made from progesterone, so you are stealing from your progesterone levels when you are in constant need of making more cortisol.

The more stress you are under the more female hormone imbalances will occur as your progesterone levels drop.

PMS symptoms like cramping, sweet cravings, mood swings and irritability will respond well to treatments that normalize cortisol levels as progesterone levels will improve too.

Progesterone is the pro-gestation hormone; it allows your uterine lining to receptive to be implantation following ovulation and it also maintains your uterine lining during the second half of your cycle (luteal phase). One of the ways we treat spotting, luteal phase defect and infertility is through optimizing the sex hormones (progesterone and estrogen) through healing the adrenals.

Peri-menopausal and menopausal symptoms like hot flashes and night sweats, and memory problems are aggravated by a drop in progesterone and swings in the hormone estrogen. The responsibility for estrogen production shifts from the ovaries to the adrenal glands during menopause. Estrogen is made from DHEA, one of the major adrenal hormones, so the more taxed the adrenal glands become, the more low estrogen symptoms women develop.

So by addressing chronic stress alone, you can help put your hormones into better balance and help alleviate all the symptoms that I listed under hormonal imbalances in the Top 5 conditions above. My favourite tools for helping you reduce your stress hormones are breath work, IV drip for stress (full of antioxidants and minerlas like magnesium)  and of course acupuncture.
